Adaptive re-use of a previous academic building provides UTAS student accommodation with light, bright interiors and an uplifting atmosphere. Views through tree-tops to the River Derwent emphasise the University accommodation’s unique island setting.

2019 – The year that was

In 2019 a shortage of rental accommodation in Tasmania saw the University of Tasmania address the delivery of new student accommodation in a range of creative ways with Morrison & Breytenbach Architects kept busy in the design of a variety of accommodation solutions. Hall’s Machinery by night

Open House Hobart – a chance to remember Hall’s Machinery

In November we opened our architectural practice to the public during Open House Hobart. Morrison & Breytenbach Architects purchased 82–84 Warwick Street, Hobart in September 2004. It had changed hands in 1999 after the death of its long time owner, was subsequently used to store excess product for Rossetto Tiles, and was earmarked for redevelopment as two town houses at the time of sale to us.
